Final Fantasy XV DLC ‘Episode Ignis’ Gets a Teaser Trailer – No New Recipes (VIDEO)

Episode Ignis

With Final Fantasy XV Episode Prompto DLC arriving tomorrow, Square Enix has gone ahead and announced the release date of Episode Ignis, now officially arriving this December.  Alongside the release date, the Japanese publisher also released the DLC’s first trailer for Episode Ignis, the last of three story-heavy DLC focusing on Prince Noctis’ companions.  Based upon the Episode Prompto trailers and gameplay from Episode Gladiolus, Square Enix has chosen to tailor-make each DLC to suit the featured companion, wrapping each side story in a bubble filled with gameplay, music, and an atmosphere befitting each of Noct’s friends.  Check out the teaser trailer below to see what’s in story for Ignis:

As seen above, Ignis is in big trouble with Chancellor Ardyn looming over him.  Without giving anything away, based on the people shown in the trailer and a few other factors, Episode Ignis appears to take place towards the middle of the game, before the train sequence.  That said, outside of knowing where the DLC takes place, there are currently no hints as to how the gameplay will differ from the main storyline.  It is possible that Ignis will have a heavy focus on magic, though it’s still currently anyone’s guess at this time.

Looking forward, Square Enix is still planning on making some big Final Fantasy XV announcements at this year’s Gamescom.  With the teaser trailer for Episode Ignis out of the way, it drastically narrows down the potential announcements that are to be made, excluding completely unannounced content for the game.  Currently, the best guess is that Square Enix plans on showing off some of the upcoming “Companions” DLC set to arrive at some point in the future.  The DLC will add in co-op play to the main game, allowing players to play as either Noctis or one of his companions.
