Throughout the course of time spent playing Detroit: Become Human, players will take control of three very unique characters. Each of the three androids have a unique background, personality, and place within the game’s story. Because of this, it would seem only natural that they would each have music tailored to each of them that can be heard in the game’s audio tracks.

The Detroit: Become Human soundtrack goes one step further by bringing in three entirely different composers together to craft each distinct musical backdrop for each of them.

The score also hopes to support the emotions and personalities of each of the main characters within the game. A recent blog post by Guillaume de Fondaumiere, the co-CEO of Quantic Dream, explains just how the developers and composers were able to capture the essence of each character through their own “theme”:

To stress Connor’s very cold and mechanical behavior, we chose a primarily electronic soundtrack. For Kara, we wanted a music that would be emotional and moving, underlining her quest for identity, love and empathy. For Markus, we needed a soundtrack that would be epic and represent the grand aspect of his journey.”

Kara’s theme is crafted by Philip Shepperd, a composer and cellist who has been composing music for film and television for many years. For Connor, the developers asked Nima Fakhrara, who is known for creating custom instruments in his projects. The epic orchestral composition of Markus was composed by John Paesano, who is known for his recent work on the Neftlix Daredevil series and the Maze Runner series. With careful planning and communication, the developers were able to blend the work of all three of these talented composers into cohesive and powerful scores to use within the game.

The incredible performances from both the composers music and the actors behind the androids, hope to bring a well crafted tale of what it means to be human. Detroit: Become Human is set to release on PlayStation 4 May 25th of this year.
