Deathloop Announces Delay Until 2021

Deathloop

Deathloop, the newest game under development by Arkane Studios and is being published by Bethesda has released a tweet stating that the game will be delayed until Q2 of 2021. Deathloop was initially announced at E3 in 2019. The tweet states “the health and safety of everyone at Arkane Lyon remains our top priority” which eludes to the trials and tribulations of COVID-19 and how it has affected the work place globally.

The tweet also goes on to say “we found that delivering this new and exciting experience, at the polish and quality level that defines both an Arkane game and a true next-gen experience, is taking longer than normal.”

The game features a character named Colt who is an assassin that just so happens to be stuck in a time loop and wakes up on the beach every day. Colt is tasked with taking out specific targets as the day progresses before the inevitable reset that night brings. If he is unable to, the next day he wakes up he must start all over.

Colt is also the only one to retain his memories. Deathloop features mechanics like parkour and stealth to players and also brings a multiplayer alternative to Colt with Julianna, a counter-assassin. She is tasked with taking out Colt to preserve the time loop. We have seen similar themes in movies like Game Over or Happy Death Day. Deathloop was showcased at the Sony PS5 event in June which confirmed that the game will be available on the next-gen console as well as getting a PC release.
