DC Shows Off Evil Batmen from Dark Nights: Metal at SDCC – Check Them Out!
The new comic series from Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, Dark Nights: Metal, is coming and there are going to be seven different “twisted” versions of Batman within it. These variations are called The Red Death, The Murder Machine, The Merciless, The Devastator, The Batman Who Laughs, The Drowned, and The Dawnbreaker. Although the Justice League does not currently know of these evil Batmen just yet, they are supposed to be battling these twisted versions in a series of one-shots that will arrive in September and November. Apparently, each of the Dark Nights: Metal links will shine the spotlight on “a different, corrupted version of Batman spawned from the Dark Multiverse to wreak havoc on Earth.”
The picture above from SDCC shows off 6 of the 7 different versions and is the first real time most of them have been seen. Earlier this week in DC’s solicitation text for September 2017, fans got a first look at The Red Death, Flash’s Dark Multiverse Batman/Flash combo. In The Flash #33, Barry Allen will battle his counterpart after Dark Nights: Metal #3, but it is still unknown whether The Red Death’s alter ego is actually Barry Allen, Bruce Wayne, or some other person entirely.
Missing from the photo is The Batman Who Laughs, which is believed to be a Dark Multiverse combo of the Joker and Batman. In the promo art for the character, this version actually has a kid side-kick, much like Batman’s Robin. The best part is that the name is inspired by 1928’s The Man Who Laughs, which was the influence behind the creation of the Joker.
The Batman one-shots will be priced at $3.99 and will be shipped with a foil stamped cover by Jason Fabok with a protective UV coating. Dark Nights: Metal #1 will be released August 16th.
