Darkest Dungeon has Sold 1 Million Copies- Prepare for Battle! (VIDEO)

It’s always a grand victory when a game developer breaks a sales milestone. Red Hook Studios, the developers of the side-scrolling dungeon crawler, Darkest Dungeon, has proudly announced the success of the game’s launch, proclaiming that the title has exceeded an impressive 1 million copies sold since its release earlier this year.

Darkest Dungeon

Available for purchase and download, Darkest Dungeon is an incredibly frightening title that tests the mettle of you and your party as you navigate this Gothic game. The adventure is a visceral, and downright horrifying experience that not only challenges the characters physically, but mentally and emotionally. Take a look at the trailer below to get an idea of just how horrifying the atmosphere is and how challenging it can be to come out on the other side:

Darkest Dungeon is a turn-based roleplaying adventure where you and a party of three other characters must fight your way to survival and victory in an environment that does everything in its power to ensure that you don’t survive. Another added caveat to the game is the fact that your characters are not omnipotent heroes that come out with shining armor and victory in their eyes. The game pits your warriors against horrors unimaginable, and with the addition of the Affliction system, your very real human weaknesses can be your party’s undoing.

Recently, Red Hook Studios updated their blog and Twitter, proclaiming their victorious milestone in selling this game to excited audiences. The post has given a complete breakdown of how the game was purchased, and it’s looking like Steam won the race as a platform that sold the most copies across the globe and the title’s success has opened the gates to allow the developers to begin production on the game’s first DLC content. Coming in 2017, The Crimson Court will be available to all players.

Red Hook Studios thanks their loyal players for making Darkest Dungeon’s release such a success from the bottoms of their hearts. If you haven’t had a chance to play it yet and you’re interested in trying out this gritty RPG for yourself, the game is available on PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, and PS Vita (sorry, Xbox!). If medieval role playing games interest you, you can also check out Project Wight, and For Honor  for more sword-slashing goodness in the fight of good and evil.
