Cyberpunk 2077 For Nintendo Switch Unlikely, Says CD Projekt Red
Cyberpunk 2077 has had fans salivating for new information about the game the last few months, with its release less than a year away. The game has many excited for its futuristic world and depth of realistic mechanics. Recently, CD Projekt Red excited many Nintendo Switch owners with the promise that The Witcher 3 would be receiving a Nintendo Switch port, which is set to release this week. With the news, many Switch owners had their hopes for a version of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo device. Now, CD Projekt Red has directly commented on whether a Cyberpunk 2077 Nintendo Switch release could happen.
CD Projekt Red’s John Mamais was recently interviewed by Gamespot about Cyberpunk 2077 and many aspects related to its development. One big question that was on the minds of so many, including this interviewer was the possibility of a Nintendo Switch version of Cyberpunk 2077. When asked, Mamais responded by saying:
Who would have thought a game like The Witcher 3 would be possible on Switch, so who knows? I guess we’ll see, if we `decide to put it on the Switch, if we can do it. Probably not.”
It certainly sounds like CD Projekt Red wants to release the game on Switch, but considering they likely planned development around pushing the PS4 and Xbox One to their limits, a Switch version would understandably be difficult to produce. Still, The Witcher 3 did eventually make its way to the Switch, albeit several years after the game first launched on PS4 and Xbox One. So, it seems totally possible for Switch owners to step into the world of 2077 some day. Hopefully that comes before the actual year of 2077.
