Cyberpunk 2077: A Neurosurgeon Consulted With Devs Regarding “Cyberware”

Cyberpunk 2077

With many gamers’ minds still pondering the Cyberpunk 2077 trailer that was shown at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, it’s exciting continuing to learn more about the upcoming RPG from CD Projekt RED. After all, with each new piece of information that is revealed, it’s difficult not to get even more excited to jump into Night City.

That said, a recent interview with Cyberpunk 2020 creator Mike Pondsmith has revealed new details that are sure to get fans excited. As many of you know, CDPR is working closely with Pondsmith to ensure the integrity of the original board game thrives in the upcoming title. The team is seemingly going above and beyond to make this possible, especially now that we know a neurosurgeon was brought in to consult with the devs regarding “cyberware.”

“What I love about the PnP is the reality of it,” Pondsmith said. “The fact that we didn’t just pull the ideas, the concepts, and the technology out of nowhere. We built them on things that we could actually tangibly back in reality. For example, we did cyberware. We sat down with a guy who’s a neurosurgeon, and we said ‘how do we make this stuff work? How do we implant it? What’s the surgical procedure? What can we get away with?”

It’s great to see the Cyberpunk 2077 team showing dedication to that level of realism. If what we saw at E3 last month is any indication, CDPR is pulling out all of the stops with the upcoming first-person RPG. Sadly, we have no idea when it will be available, but it will likely be a few more years until players get their hands on the game.

Until then, keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as we continue to learn more about the inner workings of Night City and its residents.
