A Cyberpunk 2077 Movie Could Be Possible, According to Creator

Cyberpunk 2077 Movie

With so much Cyberpunk goodness on the way in the form of a new edition to the tabletop RPG and the highly anticipated video game, fans are going to be loving the abundance of spent in Night City in the coming years. However, these may not be the only two forms of entertainment to see the series release on as a Cyberpunk 2077 movie is a little more possible than it once was.

During a recent interview with VGC, Cyberpunk 2020 creator Mike Pondsmith discussed several topics regarding the upcoming game. One such talking point was the possibility of a movie being produced that is based on the franchise. “I can’t really say anything on [movie rights],” he said. “But with Keanu Reeves being tied up in things, it’s become much more of a possibility.”

Pondsmith then went on to mention how he feels the Cyberpunk property would be perfect for film as it hits a “sweet spot” between the action and the plot. “My favourite film is Blade Runner, but I recognise inherently that it’s a cerebral film and 2049 was even more cerebral,” Pondsmith said. “A cerebral film is not necessarily going to allow other people to enter that space and understand it, but at the same time you don’t want to do it totally action either. We found a sweet spot with Cyberpunk which is, we make you think, but we don’t bog you down and give you an education.”

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to arrive on April 16, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
