Cyberpunk 2077: Wise “Not To Show The Whole World Gameplay,” Says Mike Pondsmith

Cyberpunk 2077

Fans around the world have been craving the Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay that was shown during this year’s E3, but CD Projekt RED hasn’t been exactly generous with such awesomeness. However, there seems to be a reason for that.

In a recent interview, Cyberpunk 2020 creator Mike Pondsmith sat down to discuss the upcoming video game based on his original tabletop RPG. “We have an awful lot of stuff that we want to do, and it’s going to take time to do it,” said Pondsmith. “And I’m hoping the fans are going to give us the time to do it.” He continued:

The game we have right now is pretty damn close to what I would have built if I built it alone myself in a broom closet. I look at things in there and I just go, ‘Oh my God, that’s perfect. That’s just downright perfect.’ But to get that kind of perfection does take time. It takes iteration.”

Pondsmith also noted that it was “very smart not to show the whole world gameplay.” This is likely due to everything that is going into the development of Cyberpunk 2077, and it’s best not to get everyone’s hopes up. That said, the excitement and anticipation hasn’t slowed from not seeing any gameplay, but fans likely wouldn’t want the same fiasco that happened with The Witcher 3 to occur.

“If we’re going to do stuff that has never been done before – or has never been done the way we’re doing it – we need space, we need time, and we need the privacy to mull it over,” Pondsmith said. “If we have too many cooks in the kitchen we’re not going to get a good dinner out of it.” While we have the mightiest of needs for Cyberpunk 2077, we are happy to wait as we know it’s in good hands.

Speaking of which, Cyberpunk 2077 is set to arrive “when it’s ready” for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
