Conquest Mode Will Not Be Coming to Star Wars Battlefront 2

Battlefront 2

Conquest has been a fan favorite mode in video games since the dawn of time. Okay, maybe not for that long, but you get the idea. It breathes new life into the sometimes stale online multiplayer deathmatch scenario. This, of course, is a good thing when you want to gun down the enemy, but do so in a new way. After Star Wars Battlefront 2 was announced, fans became excited at the prospect that the Conquest mode could possibly make its way to the sequel of DICE’s 2015 hit, Star Wars Battlefront. As made evident by a recent Twitter poll created by user @nbyrne00, the fans want Conquest. Check it out:

Granted, it’s a small sample size, but the results speak volumes. Fans want Conquest in Star Wars Battlefront 2. However, it does not seem that DICE wants to give fans what they want. At least, not in this case. When @nbyrne00 brought the poll to the attention of some suits at DICE, Dennis Brännvall(Associate Design Director at DICE) and Paul Keslin(Battlefront Producer at DICE), to be exact, Dennis replied with “I don’t think we’ll go that far into our other franchise…” See for yourself:

This can be disheartening for some as Conquest is such a popular mode. Of course, there is always Supremacy, which is a lot like Conquest, but it just isn’t the same. Supremacy does have its perks, though. It’s nice not having to walk/run forever to the action since you are always spawned somewhere near it. The 10 minute match limit gave players pause at the beginning, but after it was clarified that matches could potentially see no end due to time being added to the clock each time a point is taken over, it put most at ease. No matter how it plays, however, Conquest, it is not. We will just have to wait until it is released in 2017 to see if DICE comes around and gives us the goods.

What say you, gamers? Any Battlefront players out there patiently awaiting the sequel? Do you think it’s the right call to move forward without Conquest, or would you like to see the popular mode in Battlefront 2? Let us know down in the comments or on Twitter! Also, in case you haven’t seen, a group of players came together in Star Wars: The Old Republic to honor the life of Carrie Fisher. It is an absolutely beautiful tribute and you should definitely check it out.
