Battlefield V Is The Name – WWII Is The Game, Suggests Report
Fans were pretty excited when it was revealed that EA DICE would be taking the Battlefield franchise back to World War I. The 2016 title has been an overall success, with new content continually flowing to keep players coming back for more. Now that two years have passed since the release of Battlefield 1, fans are looking to the future of the series and wondering what might be next. If a recent report is to be believed, Battlefield V will be the name of the upcoming entry, and it will be set during World War II.
The next installment in the franchise was internally known around EA as Battlefield 2, but seems to now have a set name of Battlefield V. Jeff Grub from VentureBeat is also reporting that World War II will be the setting of the next game, which would be the first time the series has seen that era since 2009’s Battlefield 1943. A leaked screenshot of the logo has also appeared. Check it out below:
Of course, none of this has been confirmed by Electronic Arts. The move to World War II would make sense, given the decline of futuristic titles in recent history. It’s a smart move on the studio’s part, having reset back to WWI just so they could return to what they know to be successful in case Battlefield 1 flopped. As we all know, it didn’t. It is also reported that Battlefield V is excepted to be announced soon, with a release set for later this year.
With it being revealed that the upcoming title will be playable at the pre-E3 event EA Play, we can hopefully expect an official reveal in the coming weeks. Only time will tell what comes of the franchise’s next installment, however, keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as we learn more.
