Three More Join Dragon Ball FighterZ Roster, Including New Original Character

FighterZ Roster, Including New Original Fighter

Currently one of the most anticipated fighting games in recent memory, Dragon Ball FighterZ has gained its popularity through a stylish anime-inspired presentation and fast-paced, arcade style gameplay. The Dragon Ball franchise is no stranger to the fighting genre, and one way they’ve kept their games fresh is by adopting “what if” storylines to explore events that happen outside series canon. One such timeline-altering event introduces an entirely new Dragon Ball character to the FighterZ roster – a female fighter by the name of Android 21.

Revealed by the Japanese publication Shonen Games, Android 21 was showcased with an entire page dedicated to the unknown character. Unfortunately, nothing much is revealed outside 21’s considerable involvement in the game’s what-if storyline surrounding fellow Dr. Gero creation Android 16. Perhaps her character is only meant for story appearances, but anything can happen in the final product.

A second page reveals the two newest members of FighterZ roster, longtime Dragon Ball duo Tien Shinhan and Yamcha. Bandai Namco confirms that both characters will retain their signature moves from the popular anime / manga series. Yamcha’s Spirit Ball and Neo Wolf Fang Fist attacks make a return while Tien can summon his Neo Tri-Beam Meteor attack or call his buddy Chaozu into a match as an assist character.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is scheduled to come to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2018 while a Nintendo Switch version is still up in the air at the moment. Arc System Works seems to be moving development along quite nicely with new FighterZ roster additions and gameplay tidbits coming forward on a pretty regular basis. The addition of Android 21 opens the door for anyone from Dragon Ball lore to be added to the fighting game, giving hope to all those hopeful Hercule fans out there.
