Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Promises An Emotional Story, “Euphoria And Depression”

Assassins Creed Odyssey

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey  is ushering in a new era for the franchise adding more RPG elements and choices to their already outstanding run. With more dialogue options, players can immerse themselves in game and engage in romance options and protagonist choices. Overall the changes are bringing in a fresh experience for a long running series of games.

For fans worried that the narration may have lean a little heavy on pure drama, Ubisoft Narrative Director Mel MacCoubrey opened up to EDGE Magazine about the wide emotional range of the game. In the interview she talked about the difference between Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and other AAA games. Here is what she had to say about the tone of the upcoming title:

A lot of AAA games take themselves very seriously, and it’s the same grimdark tone throughout. It’s stretched out, but in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey you have these huge moments of emotion, of euphoria and depression.”

It was revealed earlier in the year that there would be plenty of options for romance in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The title allows people to even choose how they approach romance, from suave smooth talker to straight up dog. Not only is it interesting that they are taking this turn, but that they’ve focused so much on a wide variety of choices.

Beyond romance and some hilarious interactions, players get options in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey similar to the Paragon/Renegade options in Mass Effect. Whether the player wants to be ruthless or compassionate, or even stand on both sides of the fence, those options are all available. For those that want to check it out Assassin’s Creed Odyssey arrives on Xbox One, PS4, PC October 5th 2018.
