Animated Deadpool Adult TV Series Scheduled to Premiere in 2018
Marvel Television and FX Productions will be working together to produce an animated Deadpool adult television series! According to Marvel’s official news blog, the adaptation was ordered by FXX and will feature 10 episodes of hilarious entertainment of the well-loved, sarcastic mercenary. Actor and creator Donald Glover and his brother, Stephen Glover, will be leading the series as executive writers and producers. While the project is currently without an official name, FX Productions president Nick Grad looks forward to the partnership with the Glovers and all others involved.
Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta. With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.
He’s not the only one anticipating the success of an animated Deadpool show either. Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb, believes it will be “groundbreaking”. “How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth,” said Loeb. “We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”
Even though Glover has had success as a staff writer for the award-winning show Atlanta, and various accomplishments in performance and production, some may be weary of putting the character in different hands. The showstopping success of the movie in 2016 has set high expectations and there’s also the sequel that’s set for 2018 as well. However, his experience may prove to be exactly what the animated series needs and to shed a different light on the smarty pants in tights.
