Metro Exodus Steam Pre-Orders Will Be Honored, Despite Becoming an Epic Games Exclusive
The release of Metro Exodus is almost here to take players back to the dark and foreboding lands of an apocalyptic Moscow in a struggle for survival. While console players will have no issues picking up the game on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, PC players will no longer be able to go through Steam in order to pick up the title for themselves.
According to a recent announcement, the upcoming title has become an Epic Games exclusive from its launch until February 14th, 2020. While the game was available on Steam up until this point, the announcement does mean that the next Metro will no longer be purchasable on the Valve platform until the limited time in Epic Games’ exclusivity is over. Thankfully, players who have already pre-ordered the game through Steam will not have any trouble redeeming those purchases through the platform.

Epic Games recently began a push to become a large competitor to Valve and its Steam platform with their own online gaming store. The recent acquisition of Metro Exodus is a major win for both Epic Games and Deep Silver. The announcement indicates that the partnership with Epic will allow the developers to invest more into the future of the Metro franchise.
Epic’s generous revenue terms are a game changer that will allow publishers to invest more into content creation, or pass on savings to the players. By teaming up with Epic we will be able to invest more into the future of Metro and our ongoing partnership with series developer 4A Games, to the benefit of our Metro fans.”
Metro Exodus is set to arrive on February 15th for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
