Deadpool Co-Star, TJ Miller, Arrested Over Political Argument

Deadpool and Silicone Valley star TJ Miller was arrested on Friday, December 9 in Hollywood, CA on battery charges. The dispute was over a political disagreement with an Uber driver. Officers of the Los Angeles Police Department arrived on scene at approximately 1 AM in Hollywood. 35 year old TJ Miller was not at the scene when police arrived, but was later arrested at his home. The victim, yet to be named, is an Uber driver that had picked up Miller after his attendance of the GQ Men of the Year party. TMZ reported that Miller and the driver got into an argument about President-elect Donald Trump and that Miller allegedly slapped the other person when they arrived at Miller’s home. In the past, the actor has used Twitter to express his opinion on Donald Trump.

Miller, who played Deadpool’s trusty “sidekick”, Weasel, in this year’s Deadpool, was released on a $20,000 bail later the same morning. He is set to appear in court on January 9, 2017. His latest film, Office Christmas Party, is opening this weekend and he is slated to host The Critics Choice Awards on December 11. Joey Berlin, president of the organization that holds the Critics’ Choice Awards, says Miller will maintain his hosting position for the awards.

The Deadpool co-star, if convicted, will most likely be charged with misdemeanor battery, which is also called simple battery. The penalties for this crime, in most cases, can include a fine of up to $2,000 and/or up to six months in county jail.

If we can learn anything from this altercation, it’s that no matter your stature, you will still be held accountable for your actions. Though we may differ in opinions, it probably isn’t the greatest idea to slap your Uber driver, even if your political views are polar opposites.
