Rockstar Employees Share Positive Company Experiences After Social Media Ban Lifted
The long-awaited Red Dead Redemption 2 will finally be within the reach of gamers in just one week. While many Rockstar Games fans have been expressing excitement over the title’s development since its announcement, much of the recent conversation about the game has revolved around allegations of employees facing intense schedules and poor working conditions.
Rockstar Games, as a developer, has been notorious in the industry for keeping a tight lid on both their projects and the inner-workings of their company. The developer went to the extent of placing a social media ban, which has now been lifted, and has led to many Rockstar employees sharing the positive experiences they have had with the company.

Many Rockstar employees have begun sharing a look at their enjoyable times at a Rockstar Games, such as Rockstar North’s Music Developer Keith Thorburn. The music developer shared on his personal Twitter account how positive working on Red Dead Redemption 2 was for him, saying “This was one of the most rewarding and least stressful projects I’ve worked on. I know what epic crunch feels like but this was managed in such a way that I felt happy and healthy.” Thorburn did clarify that he can only share his personal experience, and does not wish to discredit any negative experiences that any of his fellow coworkers might have.

Other Rockstar employees have stated that while working on Red Dead Redemption 2, they did not have weeks where they worked anywhere near the 100 hours that some claimed they had been forced into earlier this month. Granted, these employees all acknowledged that they speak only for their own experiences. Given the size of the company and their various departments, it could very well be the case that these accounts are all valid and based on individual managers’ policies, as well as both positive and negative experiences that are being had at Rockstar.
Hopefully, if any poor working conditions did occur during RDR2’s development, it will all be over soon and corrected on future projects. It would be a shame for such a beloved developer to have their positive reputation turned into a tumbleweed-populated western ghost town.
