Captain Marvel Makes Her Debut In Explosive First Trailer (VIDEO)
With less than six months until release, hype is now officially on for Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel. Earlier this month, the highly-anticipated superhero flick debuted a neat gallery of what’s in store for the intergalactic adventure, teasing vicious alien hijinks and all the expected nostalgia from taking place in the 90s. However, we now have our first trailer for Captain Marvel.
The footage establishes its 20-years prior time period pretty much immediately, the green-clad heroine making her explosive earthbound arrival through an old-school Blockbuster Video. What follows is an apparent partnership with SHIELD’s own Nick Fury, who due to his younger appearance has use of both of his eyes. No eyepatch, people! He’s not the only one compelling exclamation as we also see visual confirmation of Agent Coulson making his big-screen return to the MCU.
Of course, the real spectacle is the trailer’s focus on Carol Danvers, as we see her suited-up as a member of Starforce, a tease of the character’s hidden past, as well as a dazzling showcase of awe-inspiring powers. These most notably consist of harnessing massive reserves of energy, an extent of which is represented by glowing eyes and intense lightning in the trailer’s final moments. Check out the trailer below:
After witnessing this new footage, Captain Marvel already presents a hero among the most powerful we’ve seen on-screen. Sure she’s using that power to punch a random old lady, but that may not be what it seems. The film’s villainous Skrulls are notorious for shapeshifting into everyday people and Carol may have only been delivering some five-knuckle justice to the unwelcome invader. We’ll likely get more revealed as Captain Marvel inches toward its theatrical release on March 8th, 2019.
