The Last of Us Part 2 Shines the Spotlight on Ellie as the Main Character
At this years Playstation Experience 2016, Neil Druckmann who is the Creative Director for The Last of Us Part 2, revealed to us that the now 19 year old Ellie will be taking the lead throughout the game. She will be the lead playable role over the first game’s lead character Joel in this new LoU sequel. The game was announced this morning. LoU Part 2 takes place a few years into the games future with adult Ellie, brimming with hatred, and that anger is the main theme of the game according to Druckmann.
Game play will be a little different with Ellie than it was with the original’s lead Joel, but not much more was said about how different in order to keep from spoiling it. Druckmann also said that the reason for the Last of Us sequel being called Part 2 is because it is a “complementary story to the first game” and the two games together will tell a much larger story in the end. In the original game, Ellie was playable for a small portion of time and she even starred in The Last of Us: Left Behind, which was a prequel expansion to the game.
