Fallout 76 Beta Coming to Xbox One First
Fallout 76 is, without question, one of the biggest releases slated for this Fall and we couldn’t be more excited to jump into the irradiated hills of West Virginia with our buddies and bullseye some Super Mutants! Fallout 76 will be the first multiplayer game in the venerated post-apocalyptic series, with Todd Howard taking the stage at E3 last week to give it a proper reveal. Players will be able to go it alone or with friends and create homesteads, find loot, explore the untamed lands, or hunt new creatures that outsize the Super Mutant Behemoths or even the Alpha Deathclaw from Fallout: New Vegas.
During the presentation, Howard specified that there would indeed be a Beta for the game. The B.E.T.A (or Break-It Early Test Application) does not yet have a release date as of this time, however, we do know that it’ll only be open to folks who pre-order the game. Anyone who does will receive an access code so don’t worry about having to fill out a lengthy application.
We also learned recently that the Beta will first be coming to players who pre-order the Xbox One version of the game before making its way to PS4 and PC. Bethesda hasn’t clarified as to why this decision was made but it doesn’t exactly come as a surprise given the company’s affinity for supporting the platform in the past. Mod support for Fallout 4 came first to Xbox One and allowed the use of outside assets, while the PS4 didn’t support this same functionality.
Fallout 76 will be released November 14th later this year, so the beta going live around late August or early September would be a likely time, given the bevy of releases hitting during October.
