The Last Of Us Part II: Exciting New Details On Combat, AI, And Design Revealed (VIDEO)
New details on game play were released for The Last of Us Part II during Sony‘s E3 2018 press conference in Los Angeles. Naughty Dog’s Kurt Maganau and Anthony Newman gave audience members during an E3 2018 panel an array of new details players can come to expect from the long-awaited sequel.
The Last of Us Part II will feature a more nuanced and agile fighting style for Ellie to make up for the lack of brute force that Joel contributed in the previous game. Additionally, there will be a more dynamic AI system that makes for smarter enemies. As a matter of fact, they will constantly coordinate with each other and even refer to each other by name. Ellie now also has the ability to lay prone – add the foliage to that and she becomes practically invisible.
This gives players more choices during combat, escape routes, and hiding places that are placed throughout the world. There will be weapons that you can upgrade along with different types of ammo that can be crafted, such as an exploding arrow head which was shown in the demonstration.
While we didn’t get a glimpse of Joel in the official trailer to The Last of Us II, we do notice that Ellie has picked up a similar fashion sense. Not only did they premiere the trailer, Sony also gave a first-hand look at some of the neat little details added to the sequel’s game play. You can check out both in the video above.
