‘Nintendo Power’ Is Back In A Big Way – Welcome Back, Big N!
For the more seasoned gamers, we remember crouching down with our favourite Nintendo magazine and learning the scoop on all things gaming. Before the world of google, YouTube tutorials, and Let’s Plays – before streamers with their tid-bits of news, The Daily Fix, and more – there was the Nintendo Power publication. Well get ready, fellow gamers, because that nostalgic past-time is back in a big way, though not exactly as you’d remember.
Nintendo has officially made the announcement that they are bringing back Nintendo Power in the form of a podcast. Fitting, the times are changin’ and podcasts seem to be the most popular route to take. The upcoming project boasts an impressive array of content both from the Big N, and third-party industry folk. The best part? The first episode is already live! You can check it out, courtesy of Soundcloud, right here! As far as the official description for their debut episode goes:
In this debut episode of Nintendo Power Podcast, host Chris Slate looks back at the Nintendo Switch system in 2017 with Kit Ellis, co-host of Nintendo Minute, and Damon Baker from Publisher and Developer Relations at Nintendo of America.
Chris then discusses the development of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with the game’s producer, Mr. Eiji Aonuma, and director, Mr. Hidemaro Fujibayashi.”
The variety of topics paired with the classically epic music styling, this is already one podcast that we are definitely bookmarking as a favourite. Plus, it’s an excuse to talk about The Legend of Zelda, who wouldn’t want that? It’s good to see Nintendo’s presence once again on the rise, and hearing their name not be used as a gaming joke since the Wii-U’s flop. They are the godfather of gaming after all, you just don’t disrespect the godfather.
What do you think about the Nintendo Power resurrect? What are you hoping to hear in the future from them? Sound off with your thoughts about all things the Big N and more in the comment section below, and don’t forget to check out DFTG on Twitter for gaming and entertainment news live 24/7!

Navy Veteran with a penchant for the FPS genre, Chewy has all aspects of the gaming community covered. Don't expect to see him on a console any time soon, however - though he has experience in all platforms, the PC Master Race has a firm hold on him.
