Supernatural Star Reveals Details Regarding Upcoming Scooby-Doo Crossover Special

It’s no secret some weird and interesting events have taken place on the show of the CW’s Supernatural. While this upcoming episode in the next season may not take the cake, it’s certainly an unexpected twist. In early 2018, there will be a Supernatural and Scooby-Doo crossover special making its way to television and it’s probably one fans have always wanted and never knew they did. In an interview with Hidden Remote, executive producer and writer Andrew Dabb that what started out as an tentative idea ended up getting the full support and enthusiasm of Warner Bros. and Warner Bros. Animation. In fact, for those anticipating the show’s premier next year, it’s been a long process and a long time coming. and it’s most certainly one of their “biggest swings”.

I would say three-quarters of that episode is animation. I’ve seen the tests of Sam and Dean working with Scooby, it’s pretty fantastic. We’re really excited about it. I’m pretty confident people are going to like it. It’s a long process. We started working on this last January and we won’t get the final animation until this coming January. We’ve been talking it for years and we’ve finally able to pull it off.”

Producers aren’t the only ones excited about the Scooby-Doo crossover. During San Diego Comic-Con this year, Supernatural star Jensen Ackles shared his experience when filming their parts of the show.

It’ll be very Scooby-Doo-esque. Just a little slightly darker version of Scooby Doo, but I will say that when we went in and did the recording, it was Jared [Padalecki], myself, and Misha. We recorded, we put cameras and there were GoPros all over. All of that will be on special features, but we were like vibrating we were so excited about it. We were so thrilled, and the whole process of doing the dialogue, we were having a scene. It’s ridiculously funny.”

Season 13 of Supernatural returns to the CW on Thursday, October 12th, 2017, but this particular episode won’t be airing until next year. Regardless, are you excited for this next season?
