The Han Solo Film Has Found a Director in Everyone’s Favorite Arrested Development Narrator
It was recently revealed that Phil Lord and Christopher Miller had been relieved of their directorial duties on the untitled Han Solo film. This was due to creative differences, which happens quite often in Hollywood. When it was announced that this was the case, a few contenders were rumored to step in and take the helm – Ron Howard and Joe Johnston were among the potential candidates. According to a new report, it would appear that Howard will be taking charge on the project. As detailed by The Hollywood Reporter, a statement has been released by president of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy confirming that Ron will be the new director of the Han Solo film.
At Lucasfilm, we believe the highest goal of each film is to delight, carrying forward the spirit of the saga that George Lucas began forty years ago,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, in a statement. “With that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce that Ron Howard will step in to direct the untitled Han Solo film. We have a wonderful script, an incredible cast and crew, and the absolute commitment to make a great movie.”
The first task for Howard will be meeting with the actors of the Han Solo film to calm their nerves and reassure them that the show will go on. Alden Ehrenreich(Han Solo), Donald Glover(Lando Calrissian), Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, and Thandie Newton are expected to be present as the Arrested Development narrator takes them through the new plan. Howard will also have to go through everything that has already been filmed and decide what stays and what goes(if anything). Filming is set to resume on July 10, and the movie itself is still expected to be released on May 25, 2018. Stay tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers for any further developments on this story and more.
