A New Twitch Marathon Will Host the Cherished Mister Rogers Neighborhood TV Show
There are very few things and people in the world most people seem to agree on. First came Bob Ross’, the happy tree painting extraordinaire, and next on the list is Mister Fred Rogers from the Mister Rogers Neighborhood TV show from back in the day. Twitch announced recently that they will be hosting a marathon of the series for 18 days straight. Beginning on May 15th at 12 PM (PST) / 9 AM EST, they will stream all 886 episodes including ones that only aired once. Throughout the marathon, Twitch will be holding a fundraiser to celebrate PBS. However, international viewers and fans can donated directly to The Fred Rogers Company. Not only do the funds support local PBS stations, but all of this effort is done in appreciation of the late Fred Rogers. In fact, Bill Moorier, Head of Creative at Twitch, stated that he loved the show and believed it had a “universal appeal”:
We were drawn to Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood because Fred Rogers was a positive voice in fostering inclusivity and diversity, and, like our streamers, he talked to the viewers as if they were in the room with him. While his show was geared toward children, his messages have universal appeal.”
Additionally, there will be a giveaway during the event. The top 100 people hosting the Mister Rogers Neighborhood channel will be rewarded with a purple cardigan reminiscent of the one Fred wore. It may not be red, but the style is very similar! Want to find out how to participate? Check out the rules and participation particulars here! While none of this is related to gaming, sometimes people want to take a break from all sort of stress inducing factors in the world and relive blissful moments of the past.
