The film studio Straight Up Films may have let the cat out of the bag when they posted that Square Enix is currently working on a brand new Thief game. They said “a fifth sequel is currently in development” and that it will “be released in step with this motion picture adaptation.” The film adaption that is still barely in the pre-production stage was barely announced last year and is still sitting without any sort of release date.

The film studio wouldn’t have put that on their site unless they’re positive that this new Thief game is happening (right?), but Square Enix has not confirmed that the game exists. That doesn’t necessarily mean that it is untrue however, just not confirmed, and whether or not it ties in with the future Thief movie, fans will still be excited for a sequel despite the most recent game’s negative reviews.

If this is true, there’s a chance we could hear an announcement at this year’s E3, fingers crossed! How would you feel about a new Thief game?
