BioShock Designer Ken Levine’s Interactive Twilight Zone Movie “In Flux” May Not Happen
Last April, it was revealed that BioShock creator Ken Levine was in the beginning stages of getting a new film based on The Twilight Zone off the ground. The trippy original series is widely beloved by fans of the strange and tense thrills the anthology franchise is known for. Levine’s film was said to “explore the spaces between movies and games” using a form of interactive media, but it’s currently unknown what exactly that could end up being. The wait for clarification about the ambitious project may be longer than we’d like, according to a recent interview.
While taking part in an audience Q&A at EGX Rezzed in London, a fan asked Levine about the status of his Twilight Zone adaptation. The game developer revealed to the attendees that he was not completely committed to the project at the moment, describing film as “in flux”.
“Right now it’s at the stage where I’m still deciding whether this is something that I want to be doing.”
While this revelation may not spell the end for the project, it does decrease the likelihood we’ll hear anything regarding an interactive Twilight Zone story anytime soon, if at all. Currently, Levine has set up shop at Ghost Story, looking to build upon the creativity of his former BioShock studio Irrational Games. It’s entirely possible that whatever Levine’s cooking up on the gaming front could be taking priority over his filmmaking endeavors until the game’s development has completed.
