We all know by now that there is a new Tomb Raider movie in the works and it runs along the timeline of the recently rebooted games. We see a much younger Lara in the middle of her evolution into the badass archaeologist that many of us know and love. In a few candid shots from the film’s set, we see Alicia Vikander in action in full on Croft-mode.

Regardless of the long stream of failed video game-to-movie adaptations, it is undeniable that Vikander, at the very least, looks the part. The role is a tough one: physically demanding and with a huge following of fans through the decades. A lot of gamers lost faith in the possibility of a decent video game-based film – though there have been exceptions to the “insta-fail” rule. The film based off of the game Warcraft did relatively well in regards to player feedback and is even in talks for a sequel. And no mention is complete without giving a nod to the Resident Evil films, which are currently the highest grossing films to date to reflect a video game franchise.

Keep faith alive, gamers! Maybe the ‘spell of terrible’ is finally over and we can enjoy seeing our favourite characters on screen! The latest Lara Croft film is slated to hit theaters March 16, 2018. Only time will tell if it will be a hit or miss with fans.
