After substantial rumors and leaks, fans are now confirmed to receive a new Alan Wake Remastered later this Fall. Revealed in a new open letter from Remedy Entertainment creative director Sam Lake, the game is “nearing its completion” and set to release on current and last-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles as well as PC via the Epic Games Store. This release the game’s first appearance on a Sony console after originally releasing for Xbox 360 and later, PC.

“We are thrilled about the opportunity to bring the remastered version out for a new generation of platforms,” the open letter read. “​​Alan Wake Remastered is the original experience you fell in love with all those years ago. We did not want to change that. But the visuals all around, including the character model of Alan Wake himself and the cinematics, have been updated and improved with some choice next-generation upgrades.”

According to further details from Game Informer, Alan Wake Remastered is confirmed to collect the game’s two previous DLCs– The Signal and The Writer – and boasts support for 4K resolution visuals. In addition, the re-release will also include commentary from Remedy’s Sam Lake, who served as the main writer for the episodic detective adventure. Little else was revealed about the project, but more information was teased to be coming “soon.”

Rather than through its own website, Remedy’s big announcement was instead made through an Alan Wake fansite called The Sudden Stop, which centers around Alan Wake and other projects from the studio. In his open letter, Sam Lake called the site “an integral part of the Remedy community” since its debut in 2012, and therefore, “felt it was fitting” to debut the first news regarding the remaster.

“​​Alan Wake came out over 11 years ago, and through that time, you have told us again and again how much you love the game, the story, the characters, and the lore,” Sam Lake continued. “That is why we felt it was fitting to make this announcement here, at The Sudden Stop, which has been an integral part of the Remedy community since back in 2012, when it started out as an Alan Wake fansite.”

The reveal of Alan Wake Remastered comes after a substantial leak took place over the weekend, which revealed the existence of the re-release. The Taiwanese store listing correctly noted versions for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox were on the way, but suggested an October release date for the upcoming game, which is not officially the case – at least, not yet. Regardless of when it comes out, fans are sure to be excited, as it finally brings the fan-favorite title to modern consoles.

Alan Wake Remastered is set to release Fall 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
