Adding to a long string of rumors telling of an all-new Nintendo Switch model, it appears a new report has touted even more potential details about the so-called “Pro” edition of Big N’s hybrid console. Arriving by way of Bloomberg’s Takashi Mochizuki and Ian King (via Game Informer), the report suggests the upcoming hardware revision is set to utilize Nvidia graphics technology to achieve significantly increased visuals and performance.

According to the outlet’s source, the upgrade aims to take advantage of Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology, an advanced rendering technique that leverages AI to produce smoother framerates as well as a much larger and crisper gameplay image. Combined with the console’s previously-rumored 7-inch OLED display, the site also suggests the new Nintendo Switch is capable of outputting 4K resolution when docked with a TV.

A new version of the Nintendo Switch has been rumored for quite a while at this point and despite the continued emergence of reported details, Nintendo has repeatedly denied such plans exist. Considering the current Nintendo Switch also uses an Nvidia-branded graphics chip, albeit a lower-performance one, it’s not much of a stretch to assume the inevitable follow-up might also do the same. As DLSS has managed to make lower-spec PCs more capable in the modern age, it’s likely to do wonders if made available to a new Nintendo Switch.

In addition to supporting Nvidia graphics, Bloomberg’s report also puts forth that the new Nintendo Switch will come with a greatly improved CPU and memory, with DLSS acting as the cherry on top of the experience. As one might expect, adding the AI-driven feature isn’t exactly simple, with support said to require all-new code to be added to titles. However, the outlet mentioned that “a bounty of new games” are set to include this upgrade when the console eventually makes its release.

Despite all these exciting details, it’s still anybody’s guys whether or not this new Nintendo Switch Pro edition will be announced anytime soon, especially as Nintendo is prone to taking large breaks between major announcements. When/if it happens, Bloomberg surmises the updated hardware might fetch for a bit more than the current Switch model ($299 USD), with analysts suggesting $350 or even as much as $399 could be the ultimate price of the Pro.
