Xbox Academy Helps Teach The Intros Of Game Development For Free!
Microsoft has created Xbox Academy to help aspiring game developers learn the ropes. The course will be held online and offer it’s attendants a first look at the fundamentals of video game design and development. The class will run in conjunction with ELAM (East London Arts and Music), Playground Games (Forza Horizon) and Games London.
Director of Games at East London Arts and Music, Curtis Le Blanc stated “It’s a real pleasure to work with the talented people of Playground Games and Microsoft Store in delivering these sessions. Many of the students at ELAM have started their education in games development and other areas based on the inspiration from industry leaders just like the game creators at Playground, so we know how valuable sessions like this are.”
The Xbox Academy aims to give it’s participants a introductory course on Unity and it’s navigation as well as developing basic level designs in 3D and fabricating basic games using the Unity engine. Those who sign up will be privy to a pre-workshop package that consists of information on what is needed to successfully participate in the workshop including a 3D game kit and the latest version of Unity.
Studio Director of Playground Games, Gavin Raeburn said “I’m thrilled that Playground is part of Xbox Academy and that our team members Maria Lee and Ryan Greene can share their experience and knowledge. As a team, we are passionate about fostering new talent in the industry, such as with our 12-month placement scheme for university students from relevant courses. This event is another great way that we can pass on some of the expertise within the studio to inspire the next generation of game creators.”
If you are interested in signing up for the workshop you can do so here. There are only four session being run on September 12th and 13th and spaces are limited!
