GameFreak is world-renown as the developer of Pokemon in its early days. Whether gamers first began their journey with Red, Green, Blue or ones that came shortly after, most everyone remembers the nebulous logo of the handheld adventures! This time around, the team has an original title they’re excited to share with the world. Titled Little Town Hero, GameFreak’s latest endeavor is focused on creating challenging, strategic encounters with fearsome foes. Check out a trailer below:

Like the Pokemon series, Little Town Hero is an adventure game that focuses its enemy encounters on strategic moves and battling foes with the power of ideas. Instead of waves of small-time monsters, the protagonist will face-off against one boss after the other. To succeed means escaping the “humdrum village life” and toward freedom! Below is the official synopsis of Little Town Hero:

The story is set in an isolated village on the edge of the world. The only gate leading outside is heavily guarded by a castle, and the villagers are not allowed to leave. Most of the villagers don’t give it a thought, and happily go on with their everyday lives. However, the protagonist is a little different from the others – he wants to see the world outside.

One day, a “Monster” appears in the village, shocking everyone because until then, no one knew such creatures existed. The protagonist is able to fight it using a mysterious Red stone he found in the coalmines. In the course of his defense of the village, he gradually unravels secrets of how the stones and the monsters came to be…”

In addition to being spearheaded by a stellar video game development studio like GameFreak, Little Town Hero features a soundtrack created by Undertale composer Toby Fox. It also features a “compact story progression” for those with busy lifestyles, and a battle system that “relies heavily on coming up with new ideas and strategies.”
