Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Includes Drivable Car, Driver’s License Mission (VIDEO)
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has teased quite the epic adventure centering on the series’ noble protagonist Goku (a.k.a. “Kakarot” ), with memorable events such as Goku’s fight against Vegeta and the fan-favorite Cell Saga already confirmed to take place. However, it appears smaller moments of the manga/anime franchise will also feature in the Bandai Namco title, including a hilarious sequence where the titular Saiyan warrior attempts to drive a car.
The availability of automobiles in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is based on the 125th episode of the DBZ anime where both Goku and Piccolo try their hand at driving school. The series ultimately depicts the two failing the test in explosive fashion, but it appears that DBZ Kakarot will allow players the chance to actually pass the exam and acquire their own vehicle. As seen in some recently released screenshots, all that stands in the way of Goku and cruising around town is an apparent driving-based mini-game.
Over the years Goku and Piccolo have fought many battles together but are they prepared to take on the challenges of..DRIVING SCHOOL!?

In a new interview with Twinfinite, producer Ryosuke Hara confirmed that DBZ Kakarot will additionally let players drive Goku’s new car as a means of transit. The producer described players’ ability to cruise around as an important one as it adds to the game’s central premise of living through Goku’s life. Though revving up one’s engine is a pretty ace way to travel, Hara confirms that simply flying might still be preferable, as the Sky Dance technique is typically much faster than heading out on the highway.
In addition to the aforementioned mission, it seems that there may be even more vehicle-based shenanigans available in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. “We’re preparing something where you have to use the car,” teases Hara, suggesting Goku’s car will be given the chance to properly ride again. It’s currently unknown what form this extra “something” may take, but some sort of time trial or racing challenge may be a likely inclusion, especially as the driving school episode from the anime includes a memorable race between Goku and Piccolo.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot releases for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2020.
