Microsoft Introduces a New Line of Military Themed Controllers for the Xbox One
Microsoft has announced a new line of military themed controllers for the Xbox One and Xbox One S which were inspired by military “concepts stemming from combat armor and sci-fi mechanical gear”. If anything, it definitely looks like a design inspired by Deus Ex! It’s uncanny. The overall color scheme is black with gold colored designs and embellishments in the form of mesh patterns and lines. There are “rubberized diamond” patterned grips in the back for better handling and support. It has Bluetooth capability, custom button-mapping, two times the wireless capability, and a 3.5mm jack for headphones. The full collection has not been revealed, but the first in the line of many is called the “Recon Tech Special Edition”. Check out the gallery below for a closer look:
Equip yourself with the Xbox Wireless Controller – Recon Tech Special Edition, featuring a sleek, dark grey military design and rubberized diamond grip for enhanced comfort. Enjoy custom button mapping and up to twice the wireless range. Plug in any compatible headset with the 3.5mm stereo headset jack. And with Bluetooth® technology, play your favorite games on Windows 10 PCs and tablets.*”
The price, on the other hand, may not be so pretty depending on your budget for wireless paraphernalia. At $70.00 a pop, it’s a little steep, but for the collector in you, this could be a tempting buy. The design is gorgeous and offers an upgrade to a regular Xbox One controller. Microsoft is no stranger to releasing collectible and colorful designs, but this one definitely takes the cake. With the coming of Project Scorpio, perhaps this might be a worthy investment? According to Major Nelson’s blog, all Xbox One accessories will be compatible with the upcoming console so any purchases now won’t go to waste.
The Recon Tech Special Edition is set to release worldwide on April 25th, 2017.Will you be making this hefty purchase? What do you think of the overall design?
