Huge Watch Dogs 3 Leak Reveals Multiple Protagonists, Potential Title

Arguably the worst kept secret heading into E3 2019, Ubisoft is seemingly all set to unveil an all new entry in the hacker-tastic Watch Dogs series tentatively dubbed Watch Dogs 3. With details about the open-world title coming out on a semi-regular basis, the game’s inevitable reveal is all-but-confirmed to happen in just under a week’s time. In the meantime, it appears there’s at least one substantial leak left before Ubisoft takes the stage, a new Amazon listing potentially spilling the beans on multiple protagonists and the game’s final title.

By the looks of a recently-surfaced listing on Amazon UK (via Archive.org), Watch Dogs 3 has become about as confirmed as possible without actually being confirmed. Under the updated title of ‘Watch Dogs Legion,’ the store entry establishes the game’s previously-leaked setting of a “post-Brexit,” “dystopian” version of London, England, a city described as the “perfect playground” as it houses “the highest surveillce levels in the world.” The full description reads as:

Watch_Dogs Legion is set in a near-future, dystopian version of London. It’s a post-Brexit world in which society, politics and technology have changed and altered London’s fortunes. London is one of the most iconic cities in the world and has had a massive influence on all of Western Culture for centuries… London makes total sense for WD, as the city has one of the highest surveillce levels in the world making this the perfect playground.”

On top of that, a second gameplay synopsis teased the ability to “play as anyone,” confirming “every individual you meet in the open world, has a full set of animations, voice over, character traits and visuals that are generated & guided by gameplay systems.” This would suggest that Watch Dogs 3 NPCs will be playable in one form or another, a departure from the single-protagonist approach of previous entries.

A now-removed Amazon listing is surely no means of official confirmation, especially one that noticeably misspells the word “surveillance.” Despite the questionable validity, it’s tough to deny “Watch Dogs Legion” and the availability of multiple full-fledged leads are pretty interesting ideas; all seeming like a sort-of, hacker version of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. Still, it’s likely best to chalk this up as a rumor for the time being, but official confirmation is expected to come along at Ubisoft’s E3 conference on June 10th.
