Utada Hikaru to Return for Kingdom Hearts 3 Theme Song, Most Likely…

Utada Hikaru is practically synonymous with the Kingdom Hearts franchise. She gripped the public’s heart with Simple and Clean for the first Kingdom Hearts, as well as Sanctuary (“Passion” is the title for the Japanese version) for number 2. Now, she may be back for a third theme song for the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3. Near and dear to the franchise, it’s hard to imagine anyone else performing the music for the highly anticipated third installment.

Many games have been released since Kingdom Hearts 3, that’s correct. However, this is truly the next to the series. Others have been prequels or branch offs from the primary story lines, centered around the main characters.

Here’s what u3music has to say about the upcoming collaboration:

Don’t get your hopes up too high, however. According the u3music‘s Teruzane Utada (singer’s father), it is not yet official, even though they are eager for a collaboration once more. It’s obvious that legal work and contracts must be in order.

It seems likely that Utada Hikaru will be performing the third theme song, considering the tone of the tentative agreement. The release of Kingdom Hearts 3 is not far off, and a decision will obviously need to be made soon for appropriate timing. Otherwise, there has not been much news on the soon to be released game since E3 of last year. Kingdom Hearts 3 will release on December 29, 2016. It will be available for Xbox One and PlayStation consoles. That’s just a few days away.
