Naughty Dog has made an official announcement of the upcoming changes to Uncharted 4, and it’s every player’s dream come true. Uncharted 4: Survival is coming in December and – you guessed it- it’s co-op!

Mentioned on Naughty Dog’s page, the newest co-op mode is quite reminiscent of Uncharted 2 and 3, giving players a chance to hone their skills with their friends (or strangers, depending on your choice), relying heavily on each other’s skills to beat the seemingly never ending waves of enemies (hint: there’s only 50 waves, but it’s probably going to feel like a hell of a lot more).

We’ve built upon and evolved the core gameplay experience with an entirely new level of depth, challenge, and variety. From new enemy types and powerful new bosses to a dedicated progression system and expansive upgradable arsenal, Survival is all about strategy, camaraderie, and skill.

Uncharted 4: Survival will include 10 maps to go along with those 50 brutal waves mentioned, so there’s certainly no shortage of challenges players can expect to find. And the best part? Pirates.

Yes, in these dire situations,pirate warlords will be some of the boss battles you and your co-op partners will have to face. Henry Avery, a very notable swashbuckler from days-gone-by will also be making an appearance as one of the incredibly challenging bosses you will fight, which would be hard enough if he wasn’t on fire at the same time! Check him out in the trailer below and see what we mean!

With everything from Relic Challenges, dedicated progression systems, and weapon upgrades, this new mode is looking to be everything the fans have been hoping for. This is good timing, too, as Naughty Dog’s announcement comes shortly after the publisher’s reveal that they needed to delay their Classic Mode roll-out by a few days. Hopefully Survival will renew any sort of lost confidence fans might have felt with that disappointing update. Want more exciting news?
