Ubisoft Boss Hints at ‘Surprise Game’ for Nintendo Switch
Ever since the unveiling of Nintendo’s next console, Switch (formerly known as NX), gamers have been left with more questions than answers. Shortly after the unveiling, we found out that gameplay footage showed on the reel, may not actually be games that will be available on the new console. They are still keeping everything very hush hush until their full presentation in January 2017. In a Facebook post, Ubisoft Boss, Yves Guillemot, teased that one of Switch’s titles by Ubisoft will “surprise” us.
“With the Switch’s unique capacities and design, Nintendo could again redefine the way we play games! The Switch is accessible at its core and will give people the freedom and the pleasure to share more experiences and play anywhere at anytime. The Ubisoft teams developing games for the Switch are inspired by these new possibilities, and I’m really happy that we’re able to continue doing great things with Nintendo. In addition to Just Dance 2017, I think there’s at least one game that will definitely surprise you!”
We do have a confirmation of the hit dancing game, Just Dance coming, but what could be the surprise game? When I think Ubisoft, my immediate correlation is Assassin’s Creed. That would be amazing to play on the go, but I’m not sure that would be that big of a surprise. One could bring up the timing to make a guess. March 2017 is when the Switch is scheduled to hit shelves. One of Ubisoft’s titles, Ghost Recon: Wildlands is due to drop that same month. Could the Switch even handle a game like that? We want answers! As a fan of the series, I wouldn’t mind revisiting Sam Fisher in another Splinter Cell game either. With very little to go on, everything is purely speculation and wishful thinking, however, with all the buzz circling a Beyond Good and Evil sequel, that’s another one that would surprise us, right?
Unfortunately, as of right now, we are left with only the hopes and dreams. January can’t come soon enough for us eagerly awaiting the future of the Switch. Rest assured that we here at DFTG will keep you up to date on everything Switch and gaming news related. While we wait, we’d love to here back from you. What are some Ubisoft titles that you hope will make the jump onto the Switch? Let us know in the comments below.
