Tribeca Games Advisory Board Revealed, Includes Hideo Kojima, Geoff Keighley, And More
Video games have been part of the Tribeca Film Festival for several years at this point, but it would appear a larger focus will be placed on them in 2021. The inaugural Tribeca Games Award will be given out during the festival, and the advisory board is packed with big names, both in film and gaming.
“Over the years, Tribeca has showcased games including League of Legends, God of War, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Beyond Two Souls, Firewatch, and What Remains of Edith Finch,” reads the Tribeca website. “For our 20th anniversary festival taking place June 9-20, 2021 in New York City, Tribeca Games is expanding its programming.”

As can be seen in the tweet above, the Tribeca Games advisory board includes some heavy hitters in the industry. The legendary Hideo Kojima is part of the board as well as none other than The Game Awards producer Geoff Keighley. Also included are notable filmmaker Nia DaCosta, director Jon Favreau, EA co-founder Bing Gordon, head of Halo transmedia and entertainment Kiki Wolfkill, and Remedy Entertainment creative director Sam Lake.
This will mark the first time that submissions will be opened for games to join the Tribeca Film Festival as Official Selections. For games that are chosen, they will be eligible for the very first Tribeca Games Award, “which will honor upcoming games from the selections that demonstrate artistic excellence in storytelling.”
The Tribeca Film Festival is set to take place June 9-20, 2021 in New York City. Submissions are now open through January 31, 2021. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
