Among Us 2 Cancelled, Devs Will Bring New Content To Current Game

Among Us

This year has been full of many surprises in the gaming industry, especially when it comes to games that not many expected to reach the heights of success that they have. Among Us is no exception as the two-year-old game popped up out of nowhere, and while the devs were working on a sequel, they have now cancelled it.

PuffballsUnited, co-founder of Innersloth, recently took to the developer’s Itch.io page to reveal that Among Us 2 has officially been cancelled. “The main reason we are shooting for a sequel is because the codebase of Among Us 1 is so outdated and not built to support adding so much new content,” reads the post. “However, seeing how many people are enjoying Among Us 1 really makes us want to be able to support the game and take it to the next level. We have decided to cancel Among Us 2 and instead put all our focus into improving Among Us 1.”

The developer then goes on to say that all of the content they had planned for the sequel will instead be added to the current game along with the improvements. “This is probably the more difficult choice because it means going deep into the core code of the game and reworking several parts of it,” PuffballsUnited said. “We have lots of things planned and we’re excited to bring new content to everyone as you continue to enjoy playing!”

Among Us

The post also lists a few things that are coming to Among Us in the near future. Servers are still being improved, which is a plus considering the surge in players. Colorblind support is also on the way as well as a Friends system and new stage. Needless to say, more is coming to the popular title for players to enjoy while calling out Red because they totally vented.

Among Us is currently available on PC and mobile devices. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
