Along with the game’s release, the Oculus team also hosted an interview with Product Manager Elisabeth Morant, revealing a slew of information on the app’s launch. Morant explained the views of developers and their hopes to reach out to artists of all skill levels, utilizing the latest from Oculus to capture and bring together a whole new medium of art for everyone. Not only can aspiring artists or casual doodlers enjoy themselves by “painting the air”, they can capture snapshots and GIFs of their work’s progress, or upload videos walking through the three-dimensional piece, to share with whomever they choose.
Morant also went on to express the importance of artist feedback on the game’s design, and talked about her Artist in Residence program with the Oculus team:
Last year we started the Tilt Brush Artist in Residence program, through which we’ve worked with over 60 artists from a wide range of disciplines. Our goal for the program was to help artists of different mediums explore creation in VR while also providing feedback for how we could improve Tilt Brush. We’ve seen a lot of unique pieces of art come out of the program, and look forward to continuing to work with more artists in the future. ~Elisabeth Morant
If you’re a fan of Oculus’ products and love a good doodle session, this experience sounds like the perfect get-away from reality for a few hours, so make sure you check out the Oculus store today to get your hands on the title. We’re drawing closer every day to an even better VR experience with Tilt Brush’s release, though there’s still a long way to go before total-VR immersion is possible. Still, with advancements reached every single day, we’re slowly but surely getting there.
