The Last Of Us Part II Disappears From PlayStation Store Following Delay

The Last Of Us Part II

Fans were surely looking forward to the upcoming release of The Last of Us Part II as the game would follow-up the beloved original title with all the power and polish that developer Naughty Dog and the PlayStation 4 has to offer. However, it appears that fans simply cannot catch a break as the game recently fell victim to a COVID-19 related delay and is now floating in video game limbo without a set release date.

It appears that fans are in for even more heartbreak as The Last of Us Part II has now also been removed from the PlayStation Store. As reported by Prima Games, the game listing for the upcoming title is now missing from the Sony-branded storefront with only add-on content such as avatars and themes currently available for purchase. While the removal was made without an announcement, Prima suggests that this type of action is actually “pretty standard” when it comes to indefinite delays, as titles usually don’t get listings “unless they have a set release date.”

While the removal of The Last of Us Part II is almost sure to be a bummer among expectant fans, those disappointed may find solace in knowing the game is actually as close to complete as can be, with only fine-tuning and small bug fixes remaining on the final product. As for when one can expect the game to release, the game’s near-finished status may suggest that a release could happen fairly soon, but such a thing may ultimately be unpredictable in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic.
