The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim seems like it released forever ago at this point, the game having been ported to every system known to man and quite literally modded into oblivion. Even so, the announcement of a sequel during E3 2018 surely came as a surprise to fans, especially as it was revealed during the infancy of the game’s development. The time since has yielded a similarly sparse amount of information, prompting fans to inevitably question when more official details will be revealed regarding The Elder Scrolls 6.

One fan recently got his answer in an online exchange with Bethesda’s Pete Hines. Over on Twitter, the user bluntly asked when the community can expect more details regarding the upcoming sixquel. Hines answered by reiterating the game’s place on Bethesda’s schedule: “after Starfield,” referring to the company’s space-set RPG also currently in the works. As for a potential time frame when The Elder Scrolls 6 might be re-revealed, the Bethesda executive suggested fans should be waiting “years” for this type of information and not “coming at me for details now.”

It’s after Starfield, which you pretty much know nothing about. So if you’re coming at me for details now and not years from now, I’m failing to properly manage your expectations.

While it’s understandable that fans would be excited about a new Elder Scrolls game, Pete Hines has a point in telling the community to “manage their expectations.” From the get-go, Starfield has always been posed as Bethesda’s next big game, with The Elder Scrolls 6 only being announced to assure fans of Bethesda’s continued support for single-player RPGs. With this in mind, it’s only logical to assume details for the next Elder Scrolls would arrive after Bethesda has given Starfield it’s own proper unveiling. With not even an inkling of the game’s trippy announcement trailer revealed at this point, it’s likely we’ll be waiting a while before that happens.
