Simmers Rejoice! The Sims 4 Is Adding More Skin Tones
With recent criticism over the latest game expansion for The Sims 4 (The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu) resulting in an angry fan base, developers for The Sims 4 recently released a new blog post detailing the upcoming update to be released on October 6th for PC (November 10th for console). This new update will consist of expanding the skin tone palettes and fixing the current skin tones from being blotchy on darker skin tones. This next update will also deal with updating two of the base hairstyles in game.
However, in the same post they have revealed that starting in December they will “be rolling out at least a hundred new skin tone swatches in cool, neutral, and warm tones with a particular emphasis on darker skin tones.” The team will also add sliders to all swatches (new and exsisting) to allow for the fine tuning and modification of each selected skin tone to be lighter or darker. The Sims 4 team also has planned to make changed to makeup with the addition for sliders in Create-A-Sim mode and another two additional hairstyles will be updated.
The Sims 4 has responded promptly to Simmers growing concerns and according to the same post they stated “We’ll also be sharing more details about how we’re collaborating with external partners, including talented and diverse community members, to make sure we get this right.”
