Rock Band VR Preorders Are Now Live Through Oculus (VIDEO)

Rock Band VR

Oculus has officially announced the release date for Rock Band VR, and it’s coming sooner than you think! If you’re a fan of the older titles, you’ll have a basic idea of what to expect out of this new release, though unlike the other game editions, this total-immersion experience lets the player feel like they’re actually performing for a sold-out crowd. Let’s hope that kind of pressure doesn’t put a strain on your playing abilities!

This isn’t your average, every day version of Rock Band. Utilizing spatial sound integration and super responsive controls, this title allows its gamers to really get the feel of playing for a live audience, whether you choose to tackle the classic game mode of previous editions, or the new interactive story mode. “To bring the experience of Rock Band into VR, we had to completely reinvent our core gameplay—and it ended up totally exceeding our expectations,” says Greg LoPiccolo, Creative Lead of Rock Band VR.

RBVR feels more like the actual experience of being live onstage than anything I thought was possible. The idea that players can craft their own guitar parts in real-time is kind of mind-blowing. Laying down solos in RBVR is one of the most satisfying things I have ever done in a video game.”

Announced on Oculus’ blog, players can preorder their bundle now, whether you decide to go Xbox One or PlayStation 4. “For those looking to double down, you can pre-order a Stratocaster guitar controller for Xbox One or PS4 bundled with the game for $69.99 retail,” state developers in their post. “Don’t delay—quantities are limited, and pre-orders are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Bundles are expected to ship in tandem with the Rock Band VR release date of March 23.”

That’s right. March 23rd, just around corner, you can expect to get your hands on this game. To keep the hype going, check out the video below, and get in the zone, rockers!

If this looks like a game you just have to add to your library, your best bet is to run over to Amazon now, before the limited quantity of compatible Rock Band 4 controllers run out. This game also requires the use of Oculus Touch in order to work properly. If you have all of those items taken care of, all you need to do is download the game through Oculus’ store on March 23rd, and you’re good to go! While were definitely excited for this new game to hit store shelves soon, this is still a surprising update, considering the long-running lawsuit between ZeniMax and Oculus, and the victory leaning towards ZeniMax’s favor. Could this mean the cancellation of this game or future games? As of right now, there is no clear answer on what this means for future Oculus Rift games, and there is still a possibility that ZeniMax’s injunction against their sales could be denied, so make sure you check back with us as we continue to follow all of Oculus’ game releases, and PR updates regarding the virtual reality gaming system. As of right now, let’s keep on rocking, gamers, and prepare for March 23rd’s Rock Band release in the meantime.
