Ren And Stimpy Revealed for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl (VIDEO)
After demonstrating itself as being an intriguing contender to the Super Smash Bros. genre, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has now revealed the next new characters joining its animated ranks. As detailed in a recent post to the PlayStation Blog, the dysfunctional and often bizarre cartoon duo of Ren and Stimpy have now been confirmed for the upcoming fighting game.

Project Manager at Ludosity Joel Nystrom revealed the news in the new post, confirming the duo of Ren and Stimpy would operate as a single character in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. Operating similarly to Duck Hunt and Banjo-Kazooie in Super Smash Bros., Ren will mostly be seen riding on Stimpy’s shoulders, but what the character lacks in movement, they make up for in range. This is most evident in the two’s projectile “Log from Blammo” attack, which references the memorable product featured in the cartoon.
“The Log from the Blammo advertisement is so iconic we couldn’t conceive not including it as a Special move,” said Game Designer at co-developer Fair Play Labs, Matias R Singer. “The ‘Happy Happy Joy Joy’ song was likewise used as a reference for the Strong Up Air.” In addition, classic Easter Eggs can also be found in the vehicular “Beep Beep” strong dash, the slap-happy “Keep it together!” light neutral, and an unnamed crouch strong attack where Ren uses Stimpy as a melee weapon.
As of late, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has been shaping up pretty well, now boasting a total of 17 fighters and even more expected for a later date. This roster addition is just the latest character to be confirmed for the game, with the undersea critter SpongeBob SquarePants, the chaotic animal duo of CatDog, and the smashing likes of Nigel Thornberry also confirmed for the roster.
