Quake Champions Adding Bots In The Near Future (VIDEO)

Quake Champions

The most recent installment in the Quake franchise has been hanging around in Early Access since last year, and players seem to be having a good time with the title. With glorious arena combat and plenty of gore, what’s not to enjoy? That said, part of the development team discussed the addition of bots to Quake Champions in a recent video.

During the video, community director Joshua Boyle and technical director John Dean went over the details regarding the bots that are coming to the game. These computer-controlled entities will be able to embody a character that is being directed by a player, only without a human actually taking charge. Those who face the bots will be able to adjust the difficulty as they please. It is also mentioned in the video that bots will steer clear of powerful weapons, including if you turn that difficulty setting all the way up. Check out the video for yourself below:

It also learned from the video that the bots coming to Quake Champions will arrive in two phases, the first of which is set to arrive “soon.” These bots will be able to play as any of the champions currently on the roster, but without said champions’ abilities. During this phase, bots will also have restricted access when it comes to game modes, with them not being available in deathmatch and team deathmatch. The second phase, however, will remove these restrictions, giving bots the ability to be used in more game modes and use champion abilities.

In regards to a potential offline mode coming to the game, Dean provided the vague statement of “there’s a lot of really really good stuff coming down the pipe.” It will certainly be interesting to see what sort of features id Software has planned for Quake Champions moving forward. In the meantime, the game is available on Bethesda.net and Steam via Early Access.
