Need for Speed Payback is expected to feature both visual and performance customizations that will give players the opportunity to have cars they really love. Included in the customization features will be the ability to transform classic cars from scrap to super creations. Players will be able to invest time and care into creating a classic car to their specifications that they can drive in-game. Ultimately the game is promising a lot of action and a lot of flexibility for players to enjoy as they play both online and in single player mode.

The game takes place in the Fortune Valley underworld where players can select three different playable characters. A Racer, Showman, and Wheelman will all be available with five different classes of builds to use including Race, Drift, Drag, Runner, and Off-Road.
