Microsoft Wants to See Xbox Game Pass On Every Platform
Xbox Game Pass has been quite the boon to Xbox One and PC owners. The service allows users to have access to an expanding library of titles for a monthly fee as low as $10. Game Pass was a big part of Microsoft’s E3 presentation and extended the program out to PC games, with its own separate library of titles. Some titles are still shared between Xbox and PC, however, titles that originally appeared on the Xbox 360 and first Xbox will not make their way to PC at this time.
While that bit of news was a bummer there are still other exciting things being said about Game Pass by Xbox execs. Microsoft’s Head of gaming services Ben Decker recently said in an interview with Gamereactor, “You know, we would like to see Game Pass on all platforms ultimately and I think that is a long term goal. We don’t have any specific plans today, but we would love to see Game Pass really go everywhere.”
While rumors about Game Pass heading to the Nintendo Switch have been talked about before, it’s interesting to hear an official from Microsoft extend that out to “all platforms.” The rumor fires have been stoked even further after Banjo-Kazooie was added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, adding further to partnerships between Nintendo and Microsoft. It remains to be seen when Sony and Microsoft will publicly collaborate, beyond a few cross-play games, but never say never. Maybe Sony would welcome Xbox Game Pass onto their platforms! Or would Microsoft ever welcome PlayStation Now or the highly popular PlayStation Vue TV streaming service to Xbox? There are a lot of questions, but the ball seems to very much be in Sony’s court when it comes to approving a bold move like that.
What platforms would you like to see Xbox Game Pass on? Do you think it might lead to ports of Xbox 360 and original Xbox titles to platforms like the PC as well? Let us know in the comments below!
