Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 MCU-Inspired Gameplay Revealed (VIDEO)

The massive comic book character expanse of the Marvel universe is assembling for yet another time for the upcoming Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, this time exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. As the game’s release is set to happen in only a handful of weeks, an increasing array of details have started to come out about the superhero team-up, including an extended piece of gameplay that shows off it’s clear Marvel Cinematic Universe inspirations.

As part of Game Informer’s May coverage, the publication has debuted a fresh look at MUA 3’s action packed gameplay, specifically showing what players can expect with regards to the game’s story and Infinity Trials challenge modes. The footage depicts several scenarios following the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Avengers, and even the likes of Daredevil in their quest to acquire the Infinity Stones before Thanos and the notorious Black Order. As noted by GI’s Ben Hanson and Ben Reeves, peppered throughout are plenty of inspirations and callbacks to Marvel Studios’ popular run of films. Check out the 7-minute gameplay video below.

As previous installments of the Ultimate Alliance series saw a multi-platform release, MUA 3’s exclusivity on the Nintendo Switch may present a bit of a head-scratcher for longtime fans. However, as Nintendo of America’s Bill Trinen recently revealed with Game Informer (via Nintendo Insider), the decision to go with the hybrid console was seen as a “perfect fit” and a natural evolution for the multiplayer-focused series.

There was a mutual feeling that the series itself was one we hadn’t seen in a long time and that we wanted to see it come back. From a multiplayer perspective, it’s the ability to just set it up and play it anywhere. From a Marvel content perspective, that feels like the perfect fit for the Switch platform because of the multiplayer focus, and because of the versatility of the platform.”

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order releases for Nintendo Switch on July 19th.
